Hemorrhoids or Piles (in medical term) is an ilness or obstruction in anus where the Spinchter Ani or the verge of anus is swelling or also called anal verge inflammation. In some cases, hemorrhoids is caused by wrong movement when doing sports such as weight-lifting, sit or stand too long, genetical factors, push too hard when defecating (due to constipation), and could also happen to pregnant women. If this happens a lot, patient can lose a lot of blood and thus become anemia. He or she will need transfussion. External hemorrhoids can be put back inside slowly with hand or sometimes it will go inside by itself. Piles can inflame and will cause painful feeling when the surface is scratched. Sometimes piles emit mucus. Due to hemorrhoids, it will feel like there are still faeces in rectum that’s not taken out yet. In other words, patient will like the stool is not over yet. Patient knows that they might have hemorrhoids when they feel itchy on the outside tip of rectum. They feel itchy because external hemorrhoids can detain clearance on anus. Home treatment for hemorrhoids for this case can be done by soaking the buttocks in warm water for 10 minutes.

As explained before, there are several factors that can cause formation of piles, including irregular time of stool. Sometimes people like to hold back stool due to several reasons. Besides, several sports can cause piles to appear. Low fiber diet, intra-abdominal pressure, pregnancy, genetics, and aging can also cause hemorrhoids. Other factor that can increase pressure on veins of rectum and cause hemorrhoids are obesity and long time of sitting. During pregnancy, the pressure of fetus inside the womb and the hormonal change can make hemorrhoid vessel to widen. Meanwhile, childbirth can also increase the pressure on intra-abdoment. For prevention, patient can do some home treatment for hemorrhoids like drinking more water and consume more food that contains fiber. Water can also soften faeces and thus reduce pain of piles. Moreover, patient should also drink less alcohol and cafein because both of them can make body lose more water and therefore faeces will be hard.

More prevention from home treatment for hemorrhoids

The best way to prevent hemorrhoids is to keep faeces in mild shape so that it can be released easily and thus can decrease the pressure on anus. When people feel like defecating, they should immediately finish it in the toilet. Holding it back will make it worse. Also, when stool, it is not suggested to do activities like reading because it can prolong the time of sitting. Therefore, finish the stool quickly. Usually, hemorrhoids don’t need medication except when symptoms occur. Psyllium can be consumed to make faeces mild and reduce constipation. There are some home treatments for hemorrhoids that can be done. Rinse the buttocks in warm water can relieve pain and itch. Rub the piles with local anesthetic cream or ointment.  Also, herbal medication can be done as home treatment for hemorrhoids.
